Hornblower launches new art and wine series on June 13

2009 Wine & Art on the Bay events feature tours, tastings and exhibits
SAN FRANCISCO – Delectable food and wine, dynamic artwork and divine views are on the menu for Wine & Art on the Bay, a new dinner series offered by Hornblower Cruises & Events. The three-hour excursions include a seated gourmet meal, wines chosen by a headlining winemaker and displays from artists who will be on board to discuss their craft with cruise guests. Live music and panoramic bay views provide an appealing backdrop for each outing.
Tickets for the first three of four Wine & Art on the Bay events cost $159.00 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Tickets for the fourth event, featuring Paul Dolan’s green wine selection, will cost $179.00 per person. Winemaker: Bob Masyczek
Artist: Terence Stephens
Details: Smoked Dungeness crab cakes, fresh chef’s salad, braised beef short rib stew and savory blue cheese cheesecake are on the menu for the inaugural Art & Wine on the Bay dinner. Winemaker Bob Masyczek will pour wines from Napa, Lodi, Australia and New Zealand, and San Francisco artist Terence Stephens shares brilliant landscape paintings and portraits inspired by his world travels.

Details: Join Napa winemakers Matthew Glynn and Mike Westrick for a battle of the bottle: They’ll take turns pairing their favorite wines with dishes from the evening’s five-course dinner menu. Savor starters followed by tuna en escabeche, fava bean salad, herb-crusted rack of lamb and Madagascar vanilla custard – plus, enjoy vibrant creations by Brazilian-born artist Milenna Casseb Saraiva.

Details: Organic and biodynamic wines take center stage when Paul Dolan makes a stop at Art & Wine on the Bay. His blends will be served up with sustainable, organic and local treats such as fava bean focaccia bites, mixed baby greens, grilled petite rib eye steak with oven frites and several homemade desserts. Painter Katherine Plank also will be on hand to discuss her California-inspired landscapes.

Details: The spotlight shines on Veuve Clicquot creations during this elegant evening of bubbles and art. The five-course menu includes brioche tea sandwiches, house-made cheddar, chilled melon and champagne soup, lobster and avocado salad, grilled lamb and strawberry shortcake. Colin Price is the evening’s guest artist.
