Saturday, May 12, 2012 is Pet Day on The Bay, the only pet friendly event of its kind in California. Pet Day is a towel & blanket drive and fundraiser, which takes place aboard the Adventure Hornblower. A portion of proceeds benefit the homeless animals of Helen Woodward Animal Center. The event sponsors include Petco and Port of San Diego. Take at look at some of our pictures on facebook from past Pet Day on the Bay.
In today’s dog-eat-dog world, the outing is a welcome treat for pups and people alike. Four-legged guests nibble on treats compliments of Petco. Pet photographers will be on hand to document the day’s revelry. Meet locally famous "Chopper the Biker Dog" the annual Pet Day on the Bay ambassa"dog".
According to Beth Chee from HWAC, “If it wasn't for Hornblower, we'd have to go and buy all those towels and blankets. Hornblower collects enough to last us almost all year." BIG misconception that it's only for tourists. This is a great way for tourists to spend 2 hours. Being out on the bay, learning about San Diego and enjoying the views of the city. But, residents will enjoy it as well! There is the one hour tour that takes you either North OR South but for a few dollars more the two hour will take you both directions and is more informative and enjoyable. There are refreshments, both beverages and food to purchase on board. I was very impressed with how much I learned about the city. The views were great and really with coupons it doesn't cost much more than seeing a movie. So much more enjoyable.
