Local Business Leaders Urge Support of San Francisco Tradition

San Francisco – The San Francisco business community is uniting to support San Francisco’s long-standing Fleet Week tradition. A fundraiser to support Fleet Week 2009 is being held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 6p.m. to 9p.m. aboard the California Hornblower, which will depart from Pier 3, on the Embarcadero.

Fleet Week, a spectacular weekend family event that recognizes the men and women of our armed forces, is held annually in October. Fleet Week is dependent on the contributions and support of the community and volunteers. Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting Fleet Week 2009.

Supporters of Fleet Week can join September 24 for cocktails, gourmet hors d’ouevres from some of San Francisco’s best restaurants and live entertainment. Entertainment will include performers from San Francisco’s Teatro ZinZanni and others to be announced.

A silent and live auction, as well as a raffle, will be held during the event. Prizes range from a VIP Access Package to Fleet Week events to a 3-day/2-night New York vacation with front row seats to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The 2009 Fleet Week Fundraiser is being planned by a consortium including: the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the Office of the Mayor of San Francisco, the Fleet Week Committee, the San Francisco Hotel Council, the Port of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District and Hornblower Cruises & Events.

Tickets to support Fleet Week are $200 each, however bundles of tickets can be purchased at a discount, and raffle tickets will be sold at a discount in advance.
