HORNBLOWER HIRES RETIRED COAST GUARD CAPTAIN FOR NEW EXECUTIVE POSITION

Charles Bills to be Corporate Vice President of Marine Operations and Engineering
San Francisco, CA – Hornblower Cruises & Events has appointed respected maritime executive, Charles Bills, as the Corporate Vice President of Marine Operations and Engineering. Charlie had previous worked for Hornblower from 2003 through 2007. In his new position he is responsible for managing capital expenditure projects as well as overseeing the marine operations in each of the company’s seven locations nation-wide.
Charlie will also oversee engineering projects for the company. In recent years Hornblower has become an industry leader through the successful design and operation of the nation’s first hybrid ferryboat, the Hornblower Hybrid. Hornblower is currently developing a ferry powered by hydrogen and capable of operating an entire day without generating emissions. The Hornblower Hydrogen Hybrid is currently in development for service in the Statue Cruises fleet.

Charlie spent over twenty years with the Coast Guard, serving as Commanding Officer for the stations in Portland, OR and San Juan, PR. He worked for several leading engineering and construction firms before coming to Hornblower in 2003. Between 2007 and his return to Hornblower he was the General Manager of a small firm that provides environmental-friendly solutions for homes and businesses.
