The Inspiration Hornblower Celebrates Five Successful Years in San Diego
July 8, 2011
Hornblower Cruises & Events polishes the largest charter yacht on San Diego Bay in preparation for its next chapter
Since its San Diego Bay debut five years ago, the Inspiration Hornblower has welcomed corporate functions, photo shoots, fundraisers, concerts, private celebrations and more. Now, crew members are gearing up for a new era of special events and dining cruises. When the Inspiration Hornblower emerges from dry dock this week, it will be refreshed and ready to serve as an unforgettable venue for groups of up to 1,000.
Hornblower Cruises & Events changed the face of entertaining in San Diego when it launched the Inspiration in 2006. The three-deck, 222-foot, catamaran-style yacht first entered the water fresh off a $5 million renovation that installed 50 panoramic windows measuring six-feet by six-feet each. The windows, topped by high ceilings, flood interior spaces with natural light and afford sweeping San Diego Bay views. In addition, the vessel boasts dual 30-foot granite beverage bars, plus dance floors and a large stage area wired to welcome full-scale theatrical, musical or corporate productions.
The largest yacht available for group charters in San Diego, the Inspiration seats 500 in each of two interior ballrooms. Venues feature warm, nature-influenced décor and flexible seating ideal for trade shows, teambuilding outings and corporate, incentive and association events, as well as weddings and social gatherings. Outside, a sundeck set 30 feet off the water accommodates 700 guests, theater style.
From huge television and radio promotions and concerts under the stars, to daytime outings for prestigious clients such as the San Diego Chargers, the Inspiration Hornblower handles it all. Each fall, the vessel is home to the San Diego Wine and Food Festival Reserve and New Release Tasting and Silent Auction. Collective Soul, Sara Bareilles and Five for Fighting’s John Ondrasik have performed on board, as have Donovan Frankenreiter and Mat Kearney. The Inspiration also welcomes participants for the annual Cinco De Mayo Salsa Cook-Off, along with other festive events.
The Inspiration is the largest of seven vessels in Hornblower’s San Diego port and the largest private charter vessel in southern California. The climate-controlled yacht is accessible to disabled individuals. Public tours on the Inspiration board at 1066 North Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego.
