Hornblower Cruises & Events, North America’s largest charter yacht, dining cruise and eco tour company, announces the appointment of Andreas Sappok, Tom D’Amato and Steven Rosembloom as the executive team for Hornblower New York, a new brand within the Hornblower family. The new executive team will introduce four premium yachts for sightseeing, special events and dinner cruises in the New York Harbor, including North America’s first hydrogen-powered commercial vessel, the Hornblower Hybrid.

General Manager Andreas Sappok leads the team with more than 17 years of experience in marketing, sales, business development operations and general management in the tourism and hospitality industry. Prior to his appointment, Sappok spent 17 years in the local cruise industry and directed a team of more than 100 employees. Sappok holds an MBA from the University of Stuttgart in Germany, and serves on the board of directors for both the National Council of Attractions and NYC & Co., where he also sits on the finance committee.

Vice President Tom D’Amato joins Hornblower New York with an extensive background in the dinner cruise industry as well as corporate hospitality, new product development, business operations, and market introductions. He has held positions at several cruise companies throughout his 20-year career and holds a degree in hospitality and business management from the City University of New York.

Food and Beverage Director Steven Rosembloom leads the culinary department, which will emphasize the use of organic and sustainable cuisine, where available. Rosembloom transitions from his role at the company’s sister subsidiary, Statue Cruises, and brings more than 30 years of experience in operations and restaurant management. His diverse culinary background includes a variety of executive culinary positions. Rosembloom adopted his holistic approach to food and diet from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and his studies in India.

“Hornblower has a 30-year track record of successful entertaining, cruising and dining on the West Coast, and we are thrilled to bring a new luxury line to New York City,” Sappok said. “We look forward to freshening up the local cruise scene with a sophisticated fleet that has the most advanced technology and skilled staff in the New York Harbor.”

Charters and special events on the Hornblower Hybrid may be booked now for service beginning in November 2011, while public dinner cruises and the rest of the fleet will launch in early 2012.
