San Francisco Restaurant Week
Are you a cuisine fiend? Looking for great values at some of San Francisco’s most popular restaurants? Well then, you are in luck. San Francisco Restaurant Week returns to my favorite gastronomic destination from January 20th-31st, 2016.
Formerly known as “Dine About Town,” San Francisco Restaurant Week is presented by the Golden Gate Restaurant Association and is a great opportunity for locals and visitors to explore and enjoy the city’s world-class dining while supporting local community organizations and receiving great values for multi-course meals.
What is San Francisco Restaurant Week?
San Francisco Restaurant Week is an 11-day celebration of the city’s world-class dining community. More than 125 restaurants around San Francisco offer special prix-fixe menus to showcase their passion for sharing great food with diners.
Why are the menus special?
Most restaurants don’t offer prix-fixe menus on an on-going basis, however, during San Francisco Restaurant Week, restaurants construct prix-fixe menus that highlight their best-known dishes or feature a new menu item they are testing. Many menus feature a discount or special offer and that’s why it’s my favorite time of year to sample the city’s best deals.
This year, participating restaurants will feature two-course lunch and three or more course dinner menus at different prices, as follows:
Lunch – 2 course menus for $15 or $25
Dinner – 3 (or more) course menus for $40 or $65
Participating restaurants include several of my favorites: Butterfly, Caputo Trattoria, Cocotte, E&O Kitchen and Bar, First Crush Restaurant and Wine Bar, Fringale, La Mar Cebicheria, Le Colonial, MarketBar, One Market, Plouf, Rose Pistola, Spruce, The Plant Cafe Organic, and Waterbar, to name a few.

Although many of us have emptied our wallets during the holidays, San Francisco Restaurant Week provides some of the best values for those who want to sample San Francisco’s most coveted menus. I’ve also discovered that it’s an opportunity to find a new favorite or revisit an everlasting go-to restaurant. Eating out during restaurant week also benefits local community organizations. This year, as the city ramps up for the “Big Game” in February, San Francisco Restaurant Week is partnering with the 50 Fund, which is the legacy fund of the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee. Twenty-five cents for each seated dinner booked through a Restaurant Week reservation will be donated to support their work with local community organizations.
Interested in winning a year of dining out…just eat at four or more participating restaurants during San Francisco Restaurant Week, post to the Facebook page and you’ll be entered to win $1,200 in dining gift certificates at different restaurants.
